Today we were awarded our THIRD Green Flag by Eco Schools! We are truly delighted with our achievement, especially with all the challenges of the last year. The Eco-Schools Programme is the world’s largest Environmental Education programme and aims to make environmental awareness and action an intrinsic part of the life and ethos of a school. The internationally recognised Green Flag is this highest award given to Eco-Schools and symbolises excellence in the field of environmental activity.
This year our application was of such a high standard that we didn't have to have a practical assessment. A lot of our success is due to the fantastic level of involvement of our pupils and their families at home during the 2 periods of school closure - with our Eco Schools at Home Challenge in May and June 2020 and our Litter Less at Home Challenge in March 2021. Thank you so much for all your support and help in getting such a prestigious award for the 3rd time! We are looking forward to putting up our brand new Green Flag!
Unfortunately we were unable to hold our Summer Concert in the hall as we usually would, instead we have recorded our musicians playing and put the concert video on our website so everyone can enjoy watching it. The video can be found in the video resource section on our website. Well done to all of our musicians who performed very well.
Today we celebrated National Numeracy Day in Bocombra with lots of different fun Numeracy activities taking place all around the school. We all came to school dressed in our own clothes with numbers on them. There was a wide variety of fantastic home made number outfits in each classroom and some pupils (and parents) made such a massive effort with their outfits, so thank you for taking so much time and energy! We were sad that we couldn't all come together in the Assembly Hall like we usually do and show off all our outfits but there were lots of different prizes given out for different competitions within classrooms.
Well done to everyone for getting involved and making Numeracy Day a big success!

Well done to all our entrants to Week 5 of our Litter Less Challenge at home – a special well done to Zara and Ava who have been sending in entries every single week and a very warm welcome to Elsie, Lottie and John who are entering for the first time!
For the Green House, we had Zara and Ava being litter heroes and picking up litter around Craigavon Lakes, as well as Elsie, Penny and Lottie who were busy upcycling old bottles to make bird feeders. Brilliant work girls J
For the Blue House, we had Sarah who was very busy upcycling and making a fantastic dog rescue shelter and kennel.
Finally for the Red House, we had John who put some old milk cartons to excellent use by planting some sunflowers, geraniums and poppies – all beautiful flowers that the birds will love.
