On Monday 11th March the Bocombra Boys' Hockey team took part in the annual NI Pearson/McCloy Cup (Northern Ireland Qualifiers). We started the tournament with a 1-0 win against Maralin. Next we played King's Park, we had another strong performance and a 2-0 win. In the next two games the team scored a combined total of 10 goals without conceding. This meant we topped the group without conceding a single goal.
We progressed to the Semi-Finals where we played Hardy. It was a tight game which finished in a draw (1-1). The dreaded run ins followed and the team managed to score all three with Alfie (our keeper) saving two of the opposing runs. We made it to the final!

World Book Day celebrations were full of fun today as pupils and staff dressed up as their favourite book characters. Everyone was able to view each others costumes during our costume parade and congratulations to the class and staff winners! Have a look to see why they won a prize for their creative costumes and go to each class page to see pictures of all our costumes as well as our 'Reading Partnership' activities. Well done everyone for making such a super effort as always!
Dave came into our assembly today to tell us all about our new Active Travel Challenge which begins on Monday 11th March and runs for 2 weeks. It is a UK wide competition called Big Walk and Wheel. There are lots of prizes available for the schools with the most active journeys but there are also individual prizes for people who cycle or scoot during the 2 weeks. Mrs Craig will be putting a prize tag on bikes and scooters on a few random days throughout the 2 weeks. If you see a tag on your bike and scooter, bring it to Mrs Craig and you can choose a prize from the special Sustrans prize box.
Even if your football team may play red, white or blue, we are so pleased to see how Ben, one of our Year 7 pupils, has progressed over the last few years at the Manchester City FC Academy. Last week Ben was invited back to train with the Man City Academy and did both his family, friends and school proud. At the end of of the weekend Ben was awarded the 'Best Player' prize for demonstrating the best attitude, footballing talent and being eager to excel and improve. Check out some of Ben's photographs from the weekend. Ben will return once again to the Academy in July. Well done Ben we are all very proud of you!
