Eight of our Active Girl Leaders went to a learning day at Dromore Community Centre. There were a number of other schools present and all of the girls had an opportunity to hear from Shirley McKay, an Irish hockey player. She talked about how we can encourage girls to be more active and what the benefits that being active are to all of us. It was a great day with lots of chat and fun and sharing of ideas. We are looking forward to seeing what our Active Girls Leaders will be planning for our Summer term in school.
World Book Day 2026 was a wonderfully exciting day! Everyone from Nursery to P.7, and all of the staff too, dressed up as their favourite book character. We paraded into assembly showing off our creative clothing to everyone in school. Well done to boys, girls, Mums, Dads and Grandparents for making such a huge effort. As can be seen from the photos, everyone looked fabulous! Congratulations to the best boy and girl costume winners from each class and the teacher and classroom assistant winners too! This year we also had the 'Book Bell'. When we heard the bell ring it meant drop what you're doing and read for five minutes. Finally, we met up with our class partners to share stories, talk about our book characters and enjoy reading together.
On Friday Anna took part in the Northern Ireland finals of the Flahavans Primary School Cross Country Competition at Mallusk Playing Fields. She managed to qualify as a finalist after finishing as the fastest runner in the Southern Area. She ran a fantastic race against some very stiff competition and managed to finish in an impressive 12th place. Well done Anna!
