Today our new Girls Active Leaders attended a training day in Dromore Community Centre. They met two well known female sportswomen and had a chance to hear from them and ask them questions. They learnt about their new role as Active Leaders and they got to meet other Active Leaders from other local schools. It was a great day and we look forward to seeing how they bring their ideas into our school.
Commencing on Monday 24th March until Friday 4th April, we will once again be participating in the Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel Challenge. This is the UK’s largest walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling to school initiative so we want to encourage as many children and adults as possible to make active journeys to and from school for the next two weeks.
Pupils will be able to win spot prizes in school on random days by checking their bike or scooter for a special ‘prize tag’. They should bring their tag to Mrs Craig’s room where they can choose a prize.

Bocombra was well represented at the Swim Ulster Primary Schools Cup & Championships at Lisburn pool on Saturday 1st March. The children participated in a number of races and did very well, bringing home a number of medals. Four of the children have qualified to take part in the next round in Dublin and we wish them luck. Thanks to all of our pupils for participating, to their parents for taking them along and cheering them on and also to Mr Kanis-Dickson for organising the swimmers from Bocombra.
Our theme this year is 'Book Talk'. On Thursday 6th March, everyone from Nursery to Year 7 will spend time in their own class and also with their class partner peers to participate in a variety of activities. They will be talking about their favourite book characters or stories and listening to what others like about the books they prefer. Nursery to P.3 decorated a large character to help them chat with their Key Stage 2 partners while P. 4 to 7 created match the book character game cards to play with their Foundation or Key Stage 1 peers. Have a look at the class website pages to see 'Book Talk' in action.
Congratulations to Anna who made it through as an individual to the Flahavans Primary School Cross-country Finals at Mallusk last Thursday.
She raced exceptionally well and came 22nd out of 138 girls, so she is officially the 22nd fastest Primary School girl in all of Northern Ireland! Well done Anna!
