On Friday P5/6C and P2N/A were busy planting 133 trees to make a new hedgerow near our adventure playground. P5/6C had won a competition with Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, which is sponsored by Moy Park. It was a very exciting morning to learn a new skill of planting trees and the pupils loved working together to start our hedgerow, which is made up of hawthorn, holly, oak and crab apple trees. We are looking forward to seeing it grow and develop over the next few years.
Congratulations to our Year 7 team who clinched a fantastic 3rd place win at the Road Safety Quiz held in Craigavon Civic Centre on Thursday 25th January. Our BPS team went up against seventeen primary schools over eight rounds to achieve a third place against stiff competition from eventual winners Waringstown PS. Well done to our BPS team!
Bocombra PS and Nursery Unit will be affected by the planned teaching and non-teaching strike action this week. Teaching and non-teaching staff have been instructed by their respective Unions to take this action on Thursday 18th January. Due to a lack of adequate supervision, the school will be unable to open safely and as a consequence the school will be closed for all pupils on Thursday 18th January. The children’s attendance will be marked as an authorised absence for Thursday 18th January. This further unprecedented action has not been taken lightly and is in line with other Public Sector action. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you in advance for your support.
Today our cross country runners ran the last race of the Flahavans Primary School Cross Country competition. The race was held at Palace Stables in Armagh and the course was the longest and definitely the most difficult of the year. All runners did very well at completing the tough race and should be very proud of themselves. Special thanks to Mrs Hannath for her help and for all the parents and relatives who came to cheer us on.
