We completed a colouring competition for the Bluebell Trust charity. One of our P5 pupils won the competition so she was rewarded with a bag of goodies and she also won everyone in her class a Bluebell Trust bag which they were delighted to receive. The Bluebell Trust wish to thank all our parents for their very generous donations of gifts this Christmas. 🎄
We had a visit from the Dogs Trust last week. Julie was in with every class and taught us all how to keep safe around dogs. She told us how to treat dogs and what we should and should not do when we are near dogs. We all really enjoyed her presentations. This Friday (20th) we will be wearing our own clothes to school and we are asking for a small donation for the Dogs Trust so we can support them in their work in Northern Ireland.
Today our hardworking School Council hosted their second tuckshop of the year, this time with a Christmas theme. They are delighted to announce that they raised £270, which means they will be able to buy a new outdoor storage shed for our Forest School area.
Thank you to all the pupils for taking part and for helping to make the second tuckshop a huge success. Thank you also to our PTA who came to help out.
Unfortunately, due to financial viability issues, our PTA have had to take the difficult decision to cancel the Drive-In Movie planned for Wednesday 18th December. Please return any tickets previously purchased for a full refund. We apologise for the disappointment this may cause some of our pupils. As an alternative children will now enjoy a free Christmas movie within school time later next week. Our PTA have kindly agreed to provide refreshments and treats.
This morning all pupils in Bocombra took part in a run around our gravel pitch in their Christmas jumpers. Our cross country runners led us around wearing Santa hats to celebrate the Daily Mile, which encourage children to walk, jog or run for 15 minutes each day as it has been proven to help increase concentration levels, reduce challenging behaviours and improve attainment. We all enjoyed being out in the fresh air and getting some exercise done before we enjoyed our delicious Christmas dinner.
This week we were delighted to welcome parents, grandparents and friends to our four performances of Cinderella & Rockerfella. Each child in P. 5, 6 and 7 was involved whether they were singing in the chorus, dancing on the stage or acting out roles such as Buttons, Teaser the dog, Ugly Sisters, Fairies, Town Crier and many more. The Key Stage 2 teachers and assistants were so proud of how well all the children showcased how wonderfully talented they are and, through all of their hard work rehearsing their lines and songs, they entertained everyone putting on a great show!
