School Status Update – Early Collection Recommended
The safety and wellbeing of our pupils, families, and staff remain our top priority.
Due to unconfirmed reports suggesting that Portadown town centre may close early today in response to further planned protests, and recognising that a number of parents/carers will be travelling through the town to collect their children, we are advising that all pupils now be collected at 2.00pm.
Please note that no child will be permitted to leave school before this time unless they are met by a parent or designated carer at their usual departure point. All pupils will remain safely supervised within school until they are collected.
This precautionary decision has been taken to support the safety of our entire school community. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
School Status Update: Normal Operations
The safety and well-being of our pupils is our top priority.
School remains OPEN as normal today. We are actively liaising with public bodies regarding the situation in Portadown following last night's disorder. At present, we have received no information or guidance that would require an early closure.
This situation is under constant review, and we will update you immediately via the school app should anything change.
Well done to our P6 boys’ football team who played really well in Friday’s tournament. In the first round they drew against Richmount and PIPS but won against Drumgor. In the next round they played St John's, Bleary and Richmount and managed to come third in the group. Well done boys and thanks to Mrs Cahoon and Mrs Stewart for their support and coaching.
After a good sleep we packed up all our belongings and cleared out of our accommodation. We completed the Greenhill challenge activities this morning. There were four different challenges and we worked in teams to complete each one. Then we played hide and seek in the woods.
Our final dinner of chicken nuggets and chips was a great way to finish off our trip to Greenhill YMCA centre. Thanks to everyone who made the trip so enjoyable and memorable.

Some children went to archery tag this morning whilst the others tried the zip wire and Gladiator challenge.
This afternoon we went paddle boarding in Newcastle which was great fun. Two groups took part in initiative tasks and team rope course. The sun shone between the showers and everyone enjoyed their activities.
Our last activities today let every group swap round and try the activity they hadn’t yet done. It was a wet evening but good fun and everyone appreciated their dry clothes and warm dorms when they had finished.
We have arrived safely and after some fun and games in the sunshine and some lunch we are now involved in our first activities. Half the group are bouldering whilst the other half are playing archery tag.
This afternoon some groups played archery tag whilst the other groups went bouldering. Tea over and we’re ready for a campfire and climbing.
This evening we had s’mores round the campfire and we climbed on the climbing wall. Everyone is now settling into their dorms after cleaning their teeth after just a few sweets!
We had a wonderful day on Saturday 30th May at the South Lake Leisure Centre Take 500 event. Our school applied for two projects. The first is for an outdoor construction area for Primary One. For the second project, we would love to buy STEM resources for KS1.
Thank you so much to the P6 and P7 children who gave up their time to attend the event. They were an absolute credit to the school and spoke with confidence to members of the public. Also, a big thank you to everyone who took the time to come to vote for Bocombra! Hopefully we will know the results in a few weeks.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
