Well done to our P6 boys’ football team who played really well in Friday’s tournament. In the first round they drew against Richmount and PIPS but won against Drumgor. In the next round they played St John's, Bleary and Richmount and managed to come third in the group. Well done boys and thanks to Mrs Cahoon and Mrs Stewart for their support and coaching.
After a good sleep we packed up all our belongings and cleared out of our accommodation. We completed the Greenhill challenge activities this morning. There were four different challenges and we worked in teams to complete each one. Then we played hide and seek in the woods.
Our final dinner of chicken nuggets and chips was a great way to finish off our trip to Greenhill YMCA centre. Thanks to everyone who made the trip so enjoyable and memorable.
Everyone settled quickly and slept well. All up bright and early, breakfast over and ready for our day full of activities in the rain! Room inspections last and this morning have gone well, the competition is heating up!
Some children went to archery tag this morning whilst the others tried the zip wire and Gladiator challenge.
This afternoon we went paddle boarding in Newcastle which was great fun. Two groups took part in initiative tasks and team rope course. The sun shone between the showers and everyone enjoyed their activities.
Our last activities today let every group swap round and try the activity they hadn’t yet done. It was a wet evening but good fun and everyone appreciated their dry clothes and warm dorms when they had finished.
We have arrived safely and after some fun and games in the sunshine and some lunch we are now involved in our first activities. Half the group are bouldering whilst the other half are playing archery tag.
This afternoon some groups played archery tag whilst the other groups went bouldering. Tea over and we’re ready for a campfire and climbing.
This evening we had s’mores round the campfire and we climbed on the climbing wall. Everyone is now settling into their dorms after cleaning their teeth after just a few sweets!
We had a wonderful day on Saturday 30th May at the South Lake Leisure Centre Take 500 event. Our school applied for two projects. The first is for an outdoor construction area for Primary One. For the second project, we would love to buy STEM resources for KS1.
Thank you so much to the P6 and P7 children who gave up their time to attend the event. They were an absolute credit to the school and spoke with confidence to members of the public. Also, a big thank you to everyone who took the time to come to vote for Bocombra! Hopefully we will know the results in a few weeks.
This afternoon our rugby squad travelled to our neighbouring school Edenderry PS to play some matches. We thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality with some great rugby played and lots of running, tackling and scoring. After the games every player received a carton of juice and a bag of crisps thanks to sponsorship from Moutray’s in KIllicomaine. Thanks to Barry and Mrs Liggett having us and for refereeing the matches. This was a great way to round up our practises.
Well done to Year 5 who performed brilliantly for their parents, grandparents, guardians and Year 5 pupils and staff from Ballyoran PS. Mr McLean and Mr Bothwell, EA Music Service tutors from Bann House, have tutored our 44 Year 5 pupils and today's concert showcased the great musical skills they now have playing either a trumpet, trombone, clarinet or saxophone. Thank you to Mr McLean and Mr Bothwell for all of their hard work. Congratulations to all the boys and girls on a super performance, especially the final and most challenging piece 'Mamma Mia' which was fabulous!
Congratulations to Emily one of our Year 1 pupils whose artwork has been successfully accepted into the UK-wide Royal Academy of Arts Young Artist’s Show. This is a very prestigious competition which receives entries from all over the UK. Emily we are so proud of your achievement and wish you every success in the competition.
The Young Artists’ Summer Show 2026 will launch online on Wednesday 8 July.
