• How to get involved with our Litter Less campaign while at home

  Our last Eco Schools Lockdown Challenge was such a huge success, so we are hoping to get some of you involved in a new campaign over the next few weeks. If you would like some ideas as to how you can help Bocombra PS with their Litter Less campaign while you are at home, we would love you to check out the Letters section of our website - there is also a picture of the document with this article.

  It would be a great boost to our Eco Schools work if you could send Mrs Craig some photos of some of the activities and would really help us when we come to apply for the renewal of our Green Flag in May - I'm sure you can see how tattered our old flag has become! 

  We look forward to seeing what you Eco Schools ideas you come up with!

• Air Ambulance NI Boredom Busting Pack

• Nursery and Year 1 Applications 2021-22

  The Education Authority Portal is now open for applications to Nursery and Year 1 2021-22.

  Please 'spread the word' to others who do not have the Bocombra App, and contact Mrs Taylor if you have any queries. Proof of address and Birth Certificates to be uploaded instead of coming into school. • Journey To Santa winners!

  Today the winners of our latest active travel competition - Journey to Santa - received their prizes. It was brilliant to see so many entries from pupils who had managed 10 active journeys over the last 3 weeks.  The school council chose the winners from each class in a random draw - you can see photographs of the winners from each class below.

• Libraries NI Everyone Is A Hero: Winter Mini Reading Challenge

  To encourage primary school children to read for fun during the Christmas break, we wanted to let all primary schools know about the Winter Mini Reading Challenge which starts on Tuesday 1 December 2020 and ends on Friday 15 January 2021. Delivered through a fun, immersive and online platform (www.wintermini.org.uk), children aged 4 to 11 years can take part by reading any number of books (including eBooks and audiobooks) and then reviewing them. Books added to the website during the six-week Mini Challenge period will count towards unlocking special rewards including a certificate and a virtual badge and there is a downloadable reading record card that children can complete. Throughout the Challenge the website will feature activities, recommendations for great winter reads and competitions. More information on the Mini Winter Reading Challenge 2020, book recommendations and activities will be available on the Libraries NI website www.librariesni.org.uk.

• P5C afternoon of celebration after winning a competition!

  We have been watching Assembly videos produced by Suzie Taylor from Waringstown Presbyterian Church and we were excited to enter the Christmas competition that she set last week. We had to make a Nativity scene and send her a picture of it so we made a scene in our Forest School session. We were very proud of our efforts and Mrs Taylor agreed that we were brilliant too. Suzie had lots of different entries so we knew the competition was tough! So we couldn’t believe it when we actually won the competition - most classes in school probably heard our cheering when they watched the announcement this morning!! Suzie delivered to us an enormous bag of goodies: popcorn, chocolate and sweets and we had a very fun afternoon watching a Christmas DVD and eating our treats.

  Thank you Suzie for all your hard work in making your assembly videos and for sending us such a brilliant bag of treats!

  

• Christmas dinner and Christmas jumper day

  On Friday everyone wore their Christmas jumper and we enjoyed our school Christmas dinner. The jumpers were fabulous and the dinner was delicious. Thank you to all the dinner ladies for their work in putting together the meal.
