We arrived safely and quickly got settled into our dorms. After exploring we had lunch and then began our activities. We had team building games, a GPS treasure hunt, a tree trail and a tour of the castle.
Pizza and chips followed by a doughnut for tea helped boost the energy levels for a walk around the lake. After a visit to the tuck shop we watched part of a movie before heading to bed. 😴
After some sleep and room Inspections this morning we are ready for breakfast and an action packed day of activities.
We went canoeing, practised archery and played laser tag today. This evening we were orienteering around the castle grounds. After a visit to the tuck shop, we watched the rest of our movie to finish the day.
Day 1
We met at Craigavon Omniplex, enjoyed a movie and then walked to Kernan Playing Fields for our picnic lunch. We played games all afternoon before walking back to school. Great weather for our first day.
Day 2
We met at Tannaghmore Gardens and enjoyed games, the maze and the play park. We then walked to Rushmere to get lunch in McDonalds followed by ice cream in Mauds or Spoon Street. We walked it back to school for 3pm, tired after a busy day.
Huge congratulations to all our Money Week prize winners who recieved their lovely money boxes this week in Assembly. The standard of entries was very high and we had a graphic designer who was in charge of judging the entries and choosing the winner - they said they were so impressed by everyone's artwork and they found it very difficult indeed to choose the winner. So well done to all the entrants and the worthy winners!
Parent Pay Update - Thank you to everyone who has registered (now 90% of our families) and are successfully using Parent Pay to pay for and book school meals. Just a few reminders: It is essential that you log on to Parent Pay and register your child(ren) even if you only occasionally take school meals. We hope to expand this system to make payments for other items such as school trips and tuition fees next term. Meal selections must be made for all of your children, including free school meals for the full week before mid-night on a Sunday evening. Please ensure that you scroll to the bottom of the booking page to CONFIRM your selections otherwise the meals are not recorded by the system. Payments are separate from meal bookings and can be made at any time into your Parent Pay account. If you have any difficulty registering or booking meals, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Parent Pay Update - Thank you to everyone who has registered and are successfully booking school meals through Parent Pay. We now have 88% of our families registered. If you have not yet had a chance to register, we would encourage you to do so in preparation for next term, where we hope to extend the payments scheme to other areas such as tuition fees and school trips. Please note that all meal selections need to be made by mid-night on Sunday for the following week. After this, the meals are locked for the following week. If you have any difficulties please contact our school office from 8.00am on Monday morning. Also note that when making bookings, please ensure that when you have made you meal selection, you scroll down to the bottom of the page to the CONFIRM button to secure your meal booking. Thank you all for your cooperation and patience as we implemented this new payments system. MD Vallelly
Parent Pay Update- Apologies for another notification regarding meal selection for the week commencing 9th May. It would appear that the on-line menu is one week behind our actual paper menu. To ensure all children receive a meal tomorrow please make a booking for Monday only, irrespective of meal choice. Pick either either Steak burger or Pasta Chicken for Monday 9th as published in the online menu (this will give us the number of meals required for Monday) the actual choices will Bolognaise or Fish Fingers. Parent Pay have assured us that the menu will be corrected in time for choosing from Tuesday onwards. Please de-select any other bookings after Monday 9th. These can be re-booked after the menu is fixed tomorrow. Once again please accept our apologies. It will be worth it when we iron out all of the bugs!
CASHLESS SYSTEM UPDATE
Today (9th May), we have launched our new cashless payment system, initially to pay for school meals but ultimately in 2022/23 to provide a flexible and cashless system to pay for other items such as school trips and tuition fees. Please follow the steps in the activation letters to register with Parent Pay as soon as possible, even if you do not regularly purchase school meals. This will speed up our transition to a ‘cashless’ school in August/September 2022. If you have any difficulties creating an account and making meal selections for your child(ren), please contact the school this week and we will endeavour to assist you. Please note that if you are currently in receipt of Free School Meals your family still need to register with Parent Pay and make meal selections in the same manner as other families. Meal selections can be made at any point before a Monday morning. We hope that you will find this new system helpful in making payments. No cash or cheques will be received on or after today, if you have any difficulty registering or booking, please contact the school office immediately and arrangements can be made for manual booking until retrospective payments can be made. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Zara got some very exciting post in the last few weeks – from some very important people! Zara wrote to the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Charles to tell them all about her Eco activities at home and how she took part in our ‘Litter Less at Home’ campaign during lockdown. The Duke and the Prince were too busy to reply personally but their secretaries wrote a lovely reply thanking Zara for her letters.
Zara has also planted a tree for the Queen’s Green Canopy – it is brilliant to see her continuing her environmental activities at home.
Zara is such an example to all of us of how to look after her environment and it was so inspiring to see all the activities that her and her younger sister Ava carried out when they were at home – they did lots of litter picking, planting and poster making. They were the only pupils who took part in every single one of the 6 weeks of the Litter Less campaign which was fantastic.
We are very proud of Zara and her royal correspondence – we hope her enthusiasm and care for the environment will continue for many more years!
Our first School Council tuckshop was a huge success today. School Council enjoyed getting to serve lots of pupils from all our classes, from Nursery up to Primary 7. It was a hectic morning!
They made an impressive profit of £300 and they have still plenty of stock which they would like to sell in Term 3 at another tuckshop event.
Thank you to everyone who supported us.
