Today our cross country took part in Round 2 of the Primary schools Cross Country Competition. They all ran incredibly well in some very icy and frosty conditions. Special mention to our medal winners - Poppy Hannath came a very impressive 1st in the girls race and also Ella Lauchlan took part in a very exciting first ever wheelchair race at Lurgan Park. Specific results should be available on the Athletics NI website later this afternoon. Well done to everyone who raced - it was a very cold one!

Last Thursday our cross country team completed their Triathlon training by taking part in a race event in our own school grounds. The pupils were split into 4 teams and had to cycle and run around the gravel pitch. Each pupil raced their hardest and should be very proud of their efforts. Mrs Craig was only able to get a few photos but Triathlon Ireland had their own videographers and photographers there and we are looking forward to seeing their final edit.
Today we enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner. Thank you to our kitchen staff for organising and preparing a great meal. Have a look at your child's class page to see some photos.
Today our cross country team raced in a local cross country race held at Portadown College. It was an event organised and run by A level pupils and our team ran some very impressive races on a very tough course. We had some excellent results with the boys taking 2nd and 3rd in the main team race and the girls taking 1st and 4th place in their main race. Some fantastic results in the fun run also - all pupils should be incredibly proud of their efforts. Special mention to those P5 pupils who ran their first ever cross country race today - very well done indeed!
Pupils who are on our school Cross Country team have been taking part in Triathlon training provided by Triathlon Ireland on Thursdays after school. They have been learning skills to help improve their running form and learning how to transition quickly and safely on and off the bike. We are looking forward to their final week on Thursday 1st December when all pupils will be participating in a Triathlon (running and cycling only) event in school grounds. Parents are welcome to come and watch our event, which will begin at approximately 2.15pm.

Today we were delighted to welcome Dave, our Sustrans Schools Officer, to take a special Ditch The Dark day assembly. Dave gave out some prizes to those pupils who made extra special effort to dress in bright clothes and introduced us to Buzz, his folding bicycle.
He talked to us about the benefits of active journeys to school and how we can stay safe as the mornings and afternoons get darker.
Fitness Freddy came to school today to help us finish our fundraising with Cash for Kids. Every class had a great time exercising to music and singing along at the same time! Everyone enjoyed the fun in the hall and afterwards they received a fruit bag and bottle of water to help them recover! Thanks go to Freddy for making it a great end to all the hard work.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our fundraising, so far we have raised £12879 which is fantastic. This will provide us with lots of new interactive whiteboards. All funds will be totalled by noon tomorrow and the winner will be announced on Monday.
For Week 2 of Cash for Kids we had a Party-Thon day. Everyone either took part in a Dance-a-Thon or a World Cup Football Tournament. Rachel from Portadown Dance College kept the dancers moving whilst the sun shone on the footballers. Everyone had a super time exercising and having fun. Each child also received a party bag with treats to give them the energy to keep going!
