Our rugby team took part in the Gilpin Fun festival today. They played six matches, winning four of them. Everyone played really well and had great fun in the sunshine. A big thank you to everyone who came along to support us and especially to Mr Dunn and Mr Hannath who coached the team in preparation for the games today.
Today we welcomed Laura from Sustrans to school to present us with a very special award. In recognition of our continued excellence in active and sustainable travel, we have been awarded the title of Gold Ambassador School for Sustrans. We are delighted that all our hard work has been recognised and we would like to thank all the pupils for their dedication to active travel and to parents and guardians for their ongoing support in our efforts to maintain a high level of active and sustainable travel in Bocombra.
Despite the rain and wind, we were delighted to see so many pupils making the effort to cycle, scoot and walk to school as we began our Big Walk and Wheel active travel competition. We are currently second in the large primary schools in the ABC council area with an average of 56.01% which is a fantastic start! We are hoping that we will be able to improve our percentage even further during the second week of the competition.
A huge congratulations to our P6 football team who competed in today’s tournament at Brownlow Collage.
The team won every match they played and, in the final, they managed to win 8-1! They were overall winners and had a great day out despite very wet conditions. Thank you to the coaches, Mrs Oliver & Mrs Cahoon for their encouragement and tactics. Well done everyone!
This year we celebrated World Book Day with our competition 'The Masked Reader'. Everyone from Nursery to Year 7 was given the challenge of making a mask of their favourite book character. As can be seen from the photographs, everyone rose to the challenge and showed their creative and artistic skills. After our mask parade, the winners from each class were announced and they received a prize goody bag. To share our reading and writing skills, Key Stage 2 children read stories to children in their Foundation Stage or Key Stage 1 reading partner class. Well done to everyone for making a superb effort!
