Unfortunately, due to financial viability issues, our PTA have had to take the difficult decision to cancel the Drive-In Movie planned for Wednesday 18th December. Please return any tickets previously purchased for a full refund. We apologise for the disappointment this may cause some of our pupils. As an alternative children will now enjoy a free Christmas movie within school time later next week. Our PTA have kindly agreed to provide refreshments and treats.
This morning all pupils in Bocombra took part in a run around our gravel pitch in their Christmas jumpers. Our cross country runners led us around wearing Santa hats to celebrate the Daily Mile, which encourage children to walk, jog or run for 15 minutes each day as it has been proven to help increase concentration levels, reduce challenging behaviours and improve attainment. We all enjoyed being out in the fresh air and getting some exercise done before we enjoyed our delicious Christmas dinner.
This week we were delighted to welcome parents, grandparents and friends to our four performances of Cinderella & Rockerfella. Each child in P. 5, 6 and 7 was involved whether they were singing in the chorus, dancing on the stage or acting out roles such as Buttons, Teaser the dog, Ugly Sisters, Fairies, Town Crier and many more. The Key Stage 2 teachers and assistants were so proud of how well all the children showcased how wonderfully talented they are and, through all of their hard work rehearsing their lines and songs, they entertained everyone putting on a great show!
Today our cross country runners took part in a race at Portadown College. The route was difficult and long but all our runners did very well at finishing each race. Our girls did exceptionally well with Anna coming first and Flossie-Bo coming third in the girls main race. In the fun run, Jessica, Tami and Juliana came first, second and third which was a fantastic result. Well done to all the runners for making such great effort. Our next race will be in January at Palace Stables in Armagh.
Everyone in Key Stage 2 is working hard learning their script lines and song words for our drama production in December. Costumes, props and staging are all coming together and we can't wait to showcase the talented pupils we have in Bocombra PS. We look forward to welcoming you to our performances in a few weeks.
Today was the first race of the cross country season at Portadown Rugby Club. All pupils raced every well and special mention to those who raced for the very first time. We managed to get a few top 10 finishers but we are still awaiting the final results from Athletics NI.
Well done to all the runners who took part and special thanks to the parents and supporters who turned out to cheer us on. Our next race is at Portadown College on Friday 22nd November.
This week KS2 classes met up with their peers in their partner FS and KS1 classes to read stories, enjoy exploring words and illustrations together and share what they like about different books, characters and authors. Our Reading Partnership focus coincided with Book Week NI and later on in the year we will share stories and the enjoyment of reading again during World Book Day.
A huge thank you to all our parents and children who joined us for our Big Walking Bus from Tiplers this morning. It was brilliant to see so many people leaving the car behind and walking to school. We hope we have inspired some people to make more combo journeys, which would help eliminate the huge amount of traffic around our school.
