A huge thanks to everyone who helped this morning by wearing green, baking buns, setting tables and making tea and coffee. Our annual Macmillan coffee morning was a huge success and we raised an amazing £1184. Special thanks to our PTA volunteers and our new School Council members who helped out this morning.
Bocombra PS were invited to take part in some promotional work with Sustrans and Public Health Agency to help launch the annual Cycle to School Week, which runs from Monday 25th to Friday 29th September. Today was a very exciting day in our school calendar - School Council Speeches and Election Day!
We had 50 candidates from Year 5, 6 and 7 who had made a poster to put themselves forward to be on School Council. Then today they had to deliver a speech to their Year Group, after which the whole year group completed a ballot paper to anonymously declare their 3 votes.
The speeches were of an exceptionally high standard and each and every pupil who stood up should be very proud of their efforts.
The votes were counted and verified and the results are as follows:
Year 5 representatives: Sam Jennett, Lottie Knipe, Tom Robertson and Anna Nesbitt
Year 6 representatives: Daniel Thompson, Lily McCrory, Eden Baxter and Max Robertson
Year 7 representatives: Ava Patton, Ryan Finlay, Harry Jennett and Ella Lauchlan
Congratulations to the elected pupils and Mrs Craig is looking forward to a new school year and putting into practice all their fantastic ideas.
YEAR GROUP MEETINGS: SEPTEMBER 2023
During these short meetings, lasting approximately 30 minutes, you will receive an overview of the work to be covered in each year and key concepts e.g., linguistic phonics, mathematics and helping your child with reading/spellings. Teachers will also outline expectations in written homework and our school adopted handwriting style. Whilst we appreciate the time commitment required for a parent/carer to attend, we believe that forging a strong reciprocal relationship at the start of the school year will yield better outcomes for your child. This will in part replace the October Parent/Teacher Meeting, however, we will still fulfil our statutory responsibility to offer a face-to-face meeting at the beginning of the second term.
Below are the dates and timings for the Year Group Meetings and a Google Form link (these have previously been sent by notification:
Thank you for your kind consideration of these important meetings and please plan to attend.
It is my great privilege to welcome everyone back for the new school year, I trust you all had a restful summer break. We are all looking forward to welcoming your child(ren) back and are excited about what 2023/24 will bring. I particularly want to welcome Mrs Jordan as our new Year 1 teacher and Miss Coulter as our new job share teacher. We hope they will soon settle into school life and feel very much part of our Bocombra family. As we start the new school year, please note that all Year 2-7 children will be finishing at 12 noon on both Wednesday 30th August and Thursday 31st August. New Nursery and Year 1 pupils will have separate induction arrangements. The first full school day will resume on Friday 1st September.
