Congratulations to everyone in Year 5 who played in our Pathways Project Music concert. Everyone performed superbly playing their saxophone, trombone, clarient or trumpet. The children performed to an audience of 135 people including their parents and grandparents as well as their invited P.5 friends from Ballyoran P.S. with their teacher Miss Wright. Thank you very much to the tutors Mr McLean and Mr Bothwell who have worked hard to help the children gain the necessary skills and improve their musical capabilities.
Today we can finally reveal that Zara (P7) was chosen as the winner of the Bin It Don’t Fling It Rural Litter Competition organised by Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
Zara’s amazing design will be displayed on food takeaway containers and coffee cups across the Borough, encouraging everyone to ‘Take your litter home and leave no trace you’ve been!’.
The judges described Zara’s design as ‘impactful, creative and colourful’ and as well as having her design displayed around the Borough, Zara also received an Amazon Fire tablet for her amazing efforts and £200 for school.
Huge congratulations to Zara - what a wonderful ambassador she is for Bocombra!
Today we celebrated National Numeracy Day by coming to school dressed as the job that we would like to do when we are older. The costumes were fantastic and it was great to see so many different jobs and careers. Mrs Craig gave out the prizes for the winners from each class for the art competition that pupils were given last week. The standard of entries was very high and it was fantastic to see such a wide range of jobs and careers amongst all the entries. The winners each received a lovely red money box.
Shel from the Ulster Branch visited school today and took our P6 and P7 girls for a taster session in rugby. The girls had great fun running, passing and scoring tries. They played games using their new rugby skills and everyone enjoyed it immensely. A big thank you to Shel for taking the two sessions, hopefully this will encourage more girls to take up rugby! Portadown RFC are running Girls rugby taster sessions every Tuesday at the club from 6:30 - 7:30pm, all girls are welcome.
