Today we gave out prizes for those pupils who won the prize draw out of all the pupils who managed to complete 10 active journeys over the last 3 weeks. The school council completed the prize draw and there were 2 winners from each classroom. Well done to everyone who entered the competition and a special thank you to all parents and guardians who helped make the effort to walk, cycle or scoot to school!
Each pupil who completed 10 active journeys to or from school also earned their house 10 points.
Congratulations to our winners and we hope that everyone has a safe and happy Christmas holiday - we look forward to more Active Travel competitions in 2022!
Further to consultation with our Board of Governors’ Chairperson and our school leadership team, we have decided to make some changes to our school closure arrangements for December 2021. As I outlined last week, the school has been facing significant pressures over the last number of weeks due to the on-going pandemic. This coupled with rising positive cases in school and wider community transmission, we have decided that our children will finish school on Friday 17th December. To achieve a slightly earlier finishing date we have moved two of our school development days planned for 3rd May and 30th June to Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st December. As these school closure days are set aside for staff development, this will in effect have no reduction in actual ‘face to face’ teaching days for our pupils. A revised Holiday List has been included at the end of this letter. Children will have a staggered finishing time on Friday 17th December:
Nursery – 11.00am, Year 1 – Year 3 (and older siblings) 11.30am and Year 4-7 12.00 noon.
Today our Cross Country team walked down to Portadown Rugby Club to particpate in the Southern Area race of Flahavan's Primary School Cross Country League. We all ran particularly well and came home with a grand total of 9 medals!
Our fun runners only had one other school competing against them so it was 1, 2, 3 win for Bocombra for both girls and boys.
Our girls main team did very well with Poppy Hannath coming in 1st and the rest of the team finishing in strong positions also.
Our boys main team ran a fantastic race with Ethan Jennett coming 1st, Charlie Alderdice coming 3rd and the other boys finishing very strongly.
Poppy, Ethan and Charlie are now through to the Northern Ireland final in Mallusk in January, but we are waiting for confirmation of the boys' and girls' teams getting through - Mrs Craig will send an app notification this evening once she is notified of today's results.
A huge well done to everyone who participated - the running was exceptional and they all should be very proud of themselves.
A massive thank you to parents who took time to come and cheer the runners on.
