Through their participation in the BBCs Terrific Scientific Mrs Flack and Mr Hamilton's classes were very lucky to win a special visit from the Paralympian Claire Cashmore, MBE. Both classes have been conducting a variety of experiments over the last number of months and uploading their results to the online website map. This entered the school into a special draw which they were extremely lucky to win, the prize being a visit from Claire.
Claire firstly held a question and answer session with all of the Year 6 and 7s. They asked great questions and found out a lot about Claire, her sport and how she has overcome her disability in order to win so many medals.
After answering questions Claire very kindly allowed the pupils to see and even wear her Rio gold and silver Olympic medals. She signed autographs and chatted with everyone allowing them to ask more questions or tell Claire about their own sporting achievements.
To conclude the visit Claire started the 50m sprint races which is part of the final Terrific Scientific experiment.
Claire was very interesting to listen to and everyone really enjoyed talking to her. She helped us have a better understanding of coping with a disability in life and she inspired us to always try our best in everything we do.
We wish her all the best for the future and we look forward to seeing her again - but next time it will be on TV!
